1. TAXIDERMY: A NEW PERSPECTIVE
The BriefTo design an exhibition as a follow up to The Wellcome Collection’s latest show titled ‘Death: A Portrait’.I continued the series with a equally taboo subject matter - taxidermy. The new exhibition challenges public perception of the practice and on a wider level seeks to illustrate our tempestuous relationship with animals.
This was University Final Major Project. |
The OutcomeThis major project produced numerous outcomes included the exhibition catalogue, map, interior layout, advertising and additional information material, all of which share a contemporary minimal look to further dispel taxidermy stereotypes and present the antique subject in a new perspective. The use of hidden content, view-able only through red decoder glasses, reinforced the main conceptual message of ‘looking differently’ and appreciating the animal in all forms, as well as the skill of the practice itself. The catalogue presents a timeline sectioned into seven milestones, each representing a key stage in the evolution of the practice, public perception and the relationship between man and animal.

3. THE HONORARY LOOKING CLUB
The BriefDuring the first UK lock-down in the spring/summer of 2020 I wanted to design a range of 'downloadable printables' suitable for the young and young at heart. I settled upon the concept 'Professor Eye' and his 'Honorary Looking Club' - a series of themed worksheets that encourage you to look closely at the world around you.
|
The OutcomeThis project received praise and interest across social media with families and creatives alike. The series is expanding, with the most recent edition targeted at the residents of my hometown - I successfully made and hid five fairy doors in a stretch of woodland and designed an accompanying worksheet.
